The Unexpected Knock
She opened the door and he was standing there, smiling, holding out an empty measuring cup like it was perfectly normal to borrow sugar from a stranger in… wait, what year is this?. She blinked. Then she felt her skin begin to flush.
When she returned with the jar, he looked at it and gave a small laugh. Not mocking. More like surprise wrapped in delight. “I guess we’re both a little old-fashioned,” he beamed.
ITEM DETAILS
A cheeky mid-century ceramic sugar jar from Crown Devon China (UK), made in the 1960s. This bold orange flower design with mod “SUGAR” lettering feels straight out of a time capsule — the kind of piece that brightens a shelf just by existing.
The ceramic body is in great vintage condition with light glaze crazing, and the original wooden lid still fits well, though no longer airtight. Perfect for sugar cubes, wrapped candy, cotton rounds (why not, eh?), or repurposed as a retro planter.

- Ceramic body with wood lid
- Approx. 6″ tall x 4″ wide
- Glaze crazing; lid rests but no suction seal
